Village Harvest
1979 - Present
Description
A stylized rural settlement seen from an elevated vantage point. A dense cluster of simplified geometric buildings in white, cream, and pale blue occupies the middle ground, framed by rounded trees rendered as near-spherical masses in deep blue and teal. In the foreground, rows of red and golden-orange fruit or produce are laid out in ordered bands, and a pale blue road or pathway threads through the scene toward the horizon.
The palette is deliberately non-naturalistic and high in contrast: deep blues and teals set against bright reds, vivid yellows, and gold, with a warm golden sky filling the upper portion. Architectural and organic forms alike are bounded by heavy black outlines. Brushwork is gestural and visible, with impasto in places, and the flattened perspective and simplified volumes suggest Expressionist handling with Cubist or Constructivist inflection.
No signature, date, or inscription is legible in the archival photograph.
