Gaza Fish

A vertically structured composition divided into two zones. The upper register is dominated by five monumental, abstracted human heads with closed eyes, arranged in a rhythmic, processional line against a mountainous or wave-like ground. Each face is split between warm ochre and orange passages and cool blue and teal ones. Below sits a densely packed cityscape of stacked cubic buildings in navy, deep blue, and cream, punctuated by small rectangular windows.

The palette is nocturnal, built on deep navy and teal and lifted by rust, ochre, and pale yellow accents. Forms are defined by heavy black contour lines, and the paint is handled expressively, with visible brushwork and passages of impasto in the sky and drapery. The idiom combines Expressionist handling with Cubist fragmentation and a geometric simplification that recalls Art Deco.
