Description

An interior still life spread across multiple tables laden with objects. Two stylized white fish, drawn with skeletal detail, rest on yellow-ochre surfaces alongside ceramic bowls and vessels in red and blue. Potted plants, including a columnar cactus and flowering succulents, punctuate the arrangement, and rush-seated chairs with prominent spindle backs in deep blue enclose the space. A window in the upper left opens onto a blue seascape, and two framed works hang on the deep blue wall behind. A striped white and blue cloth drapes across the composition, and a small landscape and a geometric composition are visible framed on the right-hand wall.

The palette is highly saturated: deep cobalt and cerulean dominate, played against warm ochre-yellow and gold, brick red and burgundy, bright white, and pale turquoise, with natural greens in the foliage. Bold black contours, apparently laid in with a fine liner brush, delineate every shape and give the surface a graphic character. Paint is applied predominantly flat with minimal impasto and subtle tonal shifts for depth. Perspective is flattened and planes are tilted, combining multiple viewpoints in a Cubist and Fauvist-inflected modernism, reinforced by decorative geometric patterning in the floor.

An artist's signature is visible in the lower corner but is not clearly legible at archival resolution.

Cataloguing note: Provisional descriptive title assigned during archival restructuring. This work was previously filed as a detail shot of Gaza Fish and is a strong candidate for the fish series. Medium, dimensions, and date are unverified.

Preservation Notes

Signature present in the lower corner; photograph at higher resolution to establish attribution and any accompanying date. Predominantly flat paint application with fine black contour lines that may be sensitive to abrasion. Medium inferred from archival photograph only. Separated from the Gaza Fish gallery during the September 2026 restructuring.
