Artist Notes

An oil painting in the thick-brush (impasto) style depicting a thorny cactus blooming with vivid shades of red, orange, and yellow, set against a sky-blue background that suggests a vast horizon. The work brings together the harshness of the thorns and the delicacy of the flowers, in a scene that expresses resilience and the capacity for life to flourish under the harshest conditions. Preservation Notes

STATUS Unknown. This is the one work in this collection not covered by the collection-wide statement that the physical works were destroyed. Recorded 2026-09-18 on the instruction of Sky, PAPA: the whereabouts and survival of this work are not known. The location field previously read "Gaza" and has been replaced with "Unknown" on that instruction. Do not assume this work was destroyed and do not assume it survives. SURVIVING RECORD One digital image, 1147 x 1600 px, 552 KB JPEG. The highest quality capture in this collection by file size, and the most useful witness available to the artist's impasto surface. DIGITAL PRESERVATION Store an uncompressed master alongside the JPEG, record a checksum, and hold a copy outside the Content Lake. Do not re-crop, re-compress, or color-correct. Raking-light captures, if the artist made any, would be especially valuable for a heavily textured surface. MATERIAL RECORD Oil and pigments on canvas, 30 x 20 cm. The medium field previously read "Acrylic paints on canvas," which contradicted the description's account of an oil impasto worked with a knife. Corrected 2026-09-18 on the instruction of Sky, PAPA, who confirmed the work is oil and pigments. The description's reference to acrylic was not part of that correction and stands as written.
