Description

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and this sudden event, it became necessary to find alternatives for many things, including schools and education. After research and studies, distance learning was introduced, which meant no longer needing to go to school or carry a backpack full of books and notebooks, and instead moving directly to online learning through e-learning platforms using various electronic methods and tools such as Zoom meetings, WhatsApp groups, and others. From here, the idea of creating the school bag project was born.

Preservation Notes

STATUS Physical work destroyed, no longer extant. Recorded 2026-09-18 on the instruction of Sky, PAPA: the artist's studio and home were destroyed in Israeli airstrikes and no physical work in this collection is known to survive. This record documents a work that no longer exists. SURVIVING RECORD One digital image, 1564 x 1564 px, 390 KB JPEG. The strongest capture in this collection. Sufficient for study, screen publication, and modest print reproduction. DIGITAL PRESERVATION The image file is now the artifact. Obtain the artist's original camera file if it still exists, store an uncompressed master alongside the JPEG, record a checksum, and hold a copy outside the Content Lake. Do not re-crop, re-compress, or color-correct the existing file. It may be the only surviving capture. MATERIAL RECORD Scrap metal, 60 x 40 cm. The artist's statement records salvaged keyboard and computer parts worked into the form of an open schoolbag. The specific components are not itemized. OUTSTANDING 1. Original camera files and additional views, particularly of the interior where the salvaged components sit. 2. An itemized list of the salvaged parts, which would make the work legible as a record of the objects it was built from. 3. Whether the work was ever exhibited or photographed by anyone other than the artist.
