Two figures on broken, rocky ground. The larger, an adult, crouches or kneels and bends forward, cradling a smaller wrapped form across both arms against the torso, head lowered over it. The adult wears a long draped garment and a light-toned wrapped head covering. The smaller form is bound in pale cloth. The heaviest blacks fall through the adult's body and the left of the frame; the lightest passages are the wrapping, the head covering, and the open background. Built from dense directional hatching and cross-hatching, tightening wherever the tone deepens. A signature sits in the lower right, not legible at this resolution.

Not determinable from the image, and not recorded elsewhere in this archive: whether the wrapped form in the adult's arms depicts a child, or the personified homeland named in the title.
