Description
A vertical composition on what appears to be a prepared canvas or canvas board. Ten to twelve human figures are rendered as flat black silhouettes and distributed across the whole picture plane at varying scales, some upright, some inverted, some in falling or floating attitudes. No facial or anatomical detail is given inside the silhouettes, and their edges are clean and sharp.
The ground behind them is built from loose, directional brushwork in burnt orange, rust, and red-orange, crossed by vertical and diagonal strokes of turquoise, mint green, and pale blue, with cream and off-white passages and neutral browns and grays between. The canvas weave is visible through the thinner washes, with thicker, more deliberate marks sitting over them.
A signature and an inscription appear at the lower left. Neither is legible at archival resolution.
