The Palestinian keffiyeh and the olive tree tell the story of the symbols of Palestinian struggle 🇵🇸🫒

The reason the olive tree is considered a symbol of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people is not only its long lifespan, but also because it is among the trees most frequently targeted by Israeli occupation forces for the purpose of settlement expansion. As a result, thousands of these trees are uprooted and burned every year. Despite this, farmers continue to plant olive trees, even though they remain vulnerable to settlement activities and repeated attacks by the Israeli occupation forces.

Every inch of the land of Palestine carries a symbol of struggle. Every grain of its soil has been watered with the blood of its people. Every olive that falls from its trees tells a story of a nation’s fight to return to its land. There are many symbols that, when we see them, remind us of and connect us to the struggle of the Palestinian people—symbols that embody steadfastness in the face of the Zionist enemy and the Israeli occupation.
