Statement

Dr. Khalil Khalidy is a Palestinian Medical doctor and a multidisciplinary Artist by nature.  His work is instinctive, drawn from not only his academia discipline, but also his heritage of being a proud Khalidy, carrying his family’s Honor forward in his life experiences; which in Gaza is one of survival, often unimaginable circumstances, that instilled resilience, faith, exploration, ingenuity and ‘revolutionary optimism’ translated from wajib واجب  the practice of maintaining hope, in spite of the hopelessness one may find themselves in.  As we all know, Palestine has been under impossible besiegement for 76 years, Dr. Khalil Khalidy is acclimated to the reality of conflict, crisis, and the trauma of war.  The art he creates is not only the very essence of his own virtue, but a thesis of his everyday life’s journey in self mastery.  He is immersive to say the least, directing expressionism that seeks to penetrate all the senses in the domain of the imagination.  He is confronting the abstracts and distortions of often heavy, dense, fearful subjects, and tasked with dismantling them through animated expressionism to make light and some kind of sense of the daily confrontation between life, death and finding the courage to invoke the curiosity of what’s beyond.
Dr. Khalil Khalidy resides in the Gaza Strip and currently is working as an Orthopedic emergency doctor.  The medicine of art and the art of medicine is his everyday pallet for formulating the emotional alchemy, the logical stoicism, the anatomical life saving skills and knowledge embodying temperance to acquiesce to such duties that the human spirit commands.  His talents are exemplified in his Artistic Direction and exactly why he is a multidisciplinary Artist.  Dr. Khalidy’s passion and quest for a higher vision, one that focuses on fine detailing and elevation is more than evident in the works he creates and the creativity he directs as well as chaotic creativity he redirects.
Khalil excels in mixed medium arts , illustrations , sculptures , abstract design, sfx-makeup and live drawing; his works focus on the portraying the emotions that goes with life changing experiences, how they are felt , precieved and expressed .
